Dame is a strategic board game for two players, classified as a game of perfect information. This characteristic allows players to develop strategies whose success is not reliant on chance.

Pieces are moved diagonally across the dark squares of the board. An opponent's piece can be captured by jumping over it with one of your own pieces, with only one piece being jumped at a time; however, chain jumps are permitted. All captures must be made forward.

The game enforces mandatory captures. If a player can jump over an opponent's piece, they are required to do so. Should a player overlook a capture opportunity and make an alternative move, the opponent may either accept the move or request that it be retracted.

The most advantageous capture must always be chosen, allowing for the maximum number of opponent’s pieces to be captured. When a piece reaches the opponent’s back row, it is promoted to a "Dame" by stacking two pieces together. The Dame can then move any number of squares diagonally both forwards and backwards and is also capable of capturing in both directions.

The game concludes when one player no longer has any pieces left on the board or cannot make any further moves.
